Summaries of the play...
Act I
“Susan…Susan,
can you hear me?” Doctors are desperately trying to save the life of Susan
Connors. Earlier that day, Susan had swallowed a bottle of pills believing she
was doing what was best for her. In a state of “limbo”, she is questioned by a
mysterious figure that is with her. His purpose is to help her make her
decision. He shows her all of the moments she feels define her so-called
“miserable life”. Remembering the good things that ultimately ended in
disaster, her life is in her hands now. Now only she can decide whether the
rest of her life is worth living.
Act II
“I’m just
someone holding a mirror.” The mysterious figure with Susan is now ready to
take control of her memories. Not only is he showing Susan her favorite memories
of living, but now he is showing her the reactions of her friends and family
mourning about her choice. He has just made her decision harder than ever.
Should she follow through with her impulsive action that could cost her her
life, or should she keep on living with the hardships of coming out alive after
an attempted suicide? Will she live or will she die? The choice is hers.
